ENGINEERING JOBS
I am recruiting for a Principal Civil and Structural Engineers to be based in Manchester, UK on a staff basis.
Position Description
As a member of the Civil & Structural Engineering group you will also be an integral member of a project based team providing technical expertise to deliver safe and cost effective process plants. The key responsibilities of the position are:
Implement assigned engineering work within the budget and project timescale
Prepare engineering deliverables in accordance with Company processes, procedures, work instructions, departmental standards and current legislation
Provide technical information in support of the project team
Comply and ensure compliance with the company H&S and Environmental policies
Attend technical design/project reviews to ensure compliance with customers needs and H&S and Environmental policies
Where required act as Project manager or Lead engineer on specified projects / proposals in accordance with Company processes, procedures and work instructions
Participate in the development of project engineering budgets and schedules
Ensure discipline support to project manager, as well as timely cross discipline support
Manage the scope of engineering work to eliminate cost / time growth. Identify any project scope growth and correctly document it and apply the company procedures for cost reimbursement
Identify project risk and address risk mitigation measures
Maintain knowledge of the latest standards, legislation, products and practices relating to the relevant engineering discipline to reinforce professional competency
Key Technical Skills
The Civil & Structural Engineering group has a requirement for Civil specialists and Structural Steel specialists.
Understanding and interpretation of Geotechnical information
Analysis and Design of Reinforced Concrete structures, piles, blast resistance structures
Analysis and design for Seismic Loading
Design of Foundations subject to dynamic loading
Appreciation of Steel Structure design.
Knowledge of European Directives (Eurocodes), Building Regulations and International Standards (AISC, ACI, ASCE etc).
Experience of STAAD would be of an advantage.
Structural Steel Specialist
Analysis and Design of Steel Structures relevant to chemical plants including pipe racks, structural pipe supports, equipment support structures and shelters
Analysis and design for Seismic Loading
Appreciation of Civil design
Knowledge of European Directives (Eurocodes), Building Regulations and International Standards (AISC, ASCE etc).
Experience of STAAD would be of an advantage.
Qualifications & Affiliations
Relevant Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification and experience.
Membership of relevant Institute
Vhartered Engineer
Experience
Significant relevant engineering experience in the petrochemical, nuclear and renewable industries.
Should have a broad base knowledge and experience of the relevant key engineering topics operating in a multidiscipline EPC environment.
Competencies
Capable of communicating with all levels of management.
Understands, develops and communicates planning activities to the team to achieve common goals and monitors progress. Allocation of resources available to ensure complete ion of tasks based on the overall project priorities.
Candidate should be proactive in seeking opportunities for self improvement and professional development to the benefit of the Company.
Capable of identifying respective components of the problem and then using reasonable assumptions and available resources and own judgement make a decision.
Active team member, promoting open communication and sharing of goals and benefits.
Provide support and guidance to the team, recognising strengths / weaknesses and the implementing the required corrective actions to ensure timely project completion.
Must be able to understand the needs of existing customers (internal & external) and develop good relationships with current and prospective customers.
Recognize Business development opportunities and identify them to the Management team
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Should have a good command of MS Office applications.
