With an HNC in mechanical engineering or an equivalent discipline, or engineering degree, you will possess relevant competencies in the petrochemical/process industries with regards to the inspection and maintenance of plant and equipment.
Sound knowledge of inspection methods and procedures are essential with a good understanding of NDE principles and practices. You will also be able to demonstrate your competence in a plant inspector role by possession of an Approved Competence portfolio or similar acceptable evidence.
Sound knowledge of inspection activities and techniques, personal independence and good verbal and written communication skills are vital, while proven management and IT skills would be an advantage.
Job Description
Reporting to the Inspection Team Leader the role of Inspection Engineer will be responsible for pressure equipment inspection. This includes the full life cycle of the equipment from construction, commissioning, in-service inspection through to decommissioning.You will be contributing to the monitoring of integrity of plant and equipment by the provision of an inspection and QC service; including organization, coordination and monitoring of inspection activities to the installation.
Duties will also include, but not limited to:
- Implementing world class accredited inspection system methodologies, technologies and systems, in alignment with the Shell Inspection Quality System
- Analysis of inspection data and provision of advice to the asset and other technical disciplines
- Transfer of 'lessons learnt' for improvement across UIE
Application of Risk Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies
Desired Skills & Experience
