Job Description

We’re currently looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join the Process Engineering Teams in Assen.

The process engineering teams based in NAM offices in Assen provide support to the Shell Upstream Onshore Assets in the Netherlands (Groningen and Land) and in the British and Dutch sectors of the Southern North Sea - Offshore OneGas Asset - and the related Gas Plants in Bacton and den Helder.

The NAM (Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij) is the most important producer of natural gas in the Netherlands and is part of Shell Upstream International Europe - UIE.

Responsibilities:
The Process Engineering teams based in the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij in Assen of which you will be part provide support to the Shell Upstream Assets in the Netherlands: Groningen, Land and Offshore OneGas.

These activities will be carried out in close cooperation with other surface and sub-surface discipline professionals, operations, maintenance and project engineering teams. Depending on your experience and competencies you may coordinate activities with other disciplines involved.

As a Senior Process Engineering Professional you will be responsible to optimize the performance of existing processing facilities which mean:

  • Initiation and maturation of proposals for improvements leading to increased production and/or reduced costs
  • Identification of innovative solutions to unlock reserves through the development of new process facilities
  • Monitoring integrity, safety and environmental performance and initiation of actions to ensure company and legal requirements continue to be satisfied
  • Supporting the Projects organization in the conceptual, execution and commissioning phase of facility projects
The NAM as part of Shell is providing a challenging work environment. Depending on competencies, interest and opportunities, assignments in process engineering or in other disciplines like project engineering or operations, in Assen or elsewhere in the Shell organization, may be possible in later stages of an engineer’s career.

Desired Skills & Experience

We are seeking a highly motivated and professional Chemical Engineer with a Master Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar. You are able to demonstrate a good balance between discipline and business needs and experience gained in the Oil and Gas industry in process engineering roles or related functions.

Preferably you’re are a Chartered Engineer or a registered professional engineer.

In this role you are able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of design and selection of oil, gas, water process facilities, preferably in the Upstream environment
  • Experience of commissioning and operations of oil and gas processing facilities
  • Capability of support to Operations and/or Facility optimization
  • Good communications and inter-personal skills
  • We expect from all our candidates that they are proficient English speakers in their communication and in the technical field within the discipline
