Position Description
Job Title:
Electrical Supervisor, Uganda
Reports To:
Functionally – Production Manager
Operationally – Production Manager

-      Owners of residences, accommodation & offices used by Tullow.
-      Owners/operators of field camps and industrial facilities
Supervises:
Provides support to Electrical Authority (in-country) and assists with supervision of electrical service contractors.
Job Purpose:
·         The purpose of this role is to institute and complete a programme of assurance and improvement to: establish satisfactory electrical safety and functionality at all locations; and train /assure competence of electrical service contractors to Tullow agreed standards.
·         Subsequently the role will provide periodic audit/checking and intervention to assure that agreed standards are sustained.
Responsibilities / Key Objectives:

Inventory, Design and Records
·         Prepares inventories of locations, premises, systems and equipment to be subject to the programme.
·         Identifies standards used in the design of existing electrical systems and determines appropriate standards to be used in areas where none are defined.
·         Establishes implements and maintains a system for planning, carrying out and recording the results of inspection and testing of electrical systems and facilities for all locations and for the planning, and follow-up of necessary remedial activities.
·         Checks and updates as-built electrical drawings. Prepares schematic drawings, sketches and reports to reflect changes or alterations made (or necessary) to equipment, circuits, and systems in accordance with management of change procedures.
·         Inspects, tests and evaluates existing electrical generation, switching, protection, distribution and earthing systems and power consuming equipment, certifying that these are constructed, tested, certified and maintained to safe and functional standards. Identifies and specifies necessary remedial work.

Responsibilities / Key Objectives:

Work Management & Supervision
·         Generates electrical inspection and maintenance procedures and schedules. Develops work routines and job plans to deliver a high level of reliability and sustainability for electrical systems and equipment.
·         Prepares scopes of work. Initiates, supervises and checks inspection, testing and remedial works by contractors, to assure that appropriate industry and international standards are met.
·         Ensures all maintenance activities are safely conducted using the correct maintenance techniques and procedures.
·         Carries out troubleshooting of electrical systems.

Supply Chain
·         Identifies and maintains contact with in-country suppliers of electrical services, electrical equipment, spare parts, materials and rental equipment.
·         Assesses and qualifies electrical materials/equipment suppliers and service contractors (i.e. their working procedures and standards, and the competency of their authorised persons and technicians).
·         Develops, in conjunction with the Tullow local Supply Chain organisation, categories of supply / work and lists of approved suppliers and contractors.

Training
·         Participates in the competence assessment and development of national Authorised Persons and Electrical Technicians.
·         Prepares training materials.

Qualifications
·         Certified electrician to: (e.g. UK) 17th Edition Wiring Regulations; Full Scope Part P; Defined Scope Part P; PAT Testing; Test & Inspection; Building Regulations (or equivalent).
·         Ability to assimilate and apply other national electrical standards and regulations.
·         Additionally, Higher Diploma in electrical engineering an advantage.
