Welding Engineer

Qualification:
A Bachelor''s degree in Welding Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering is desired. Strong written and oral communications skills are essential. Requires 8-14+ years of experience performing failure analysis, root cause analysis & metallurgical evaluations in the Oil & Gas Industry.
 
Scope of Responsibilities:
This position provides the opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers involved in performing failure analysis & metallurgical evaluations at Oil & Gas Projects. This will involve conducting metallurgical evaluations of selected Plant equipment, components, and materials. Experience in failure analysis of observed welding techniques and associated processes will be used to determine the root cause of the failure and recommend corrective actions. Duties include review of contractor''s welding procedures for engineering approval prior to welding on client''s systems and providing technical support to project teams.


Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Candidates should have a proficient working knowledge of welding processes such as: (GTAW, SMAW, SAW, GMAW, FCAW, etc.) and the welding and fabrication codes, such as API, ASME B31.1, ANSI B31.7, ASME Section I, II, III, VIII, IX, XI, AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.5, D1.6 and D9.1.
  • Additional knowledge and understanding of nondestructive methods and selection of the right application for a particular inspection code (UT, RT, PT, MT, etc.).
  • Expected to define and supervise projects to completion, develop technical reports and presentations, interact with internal and external customers and perform assigned tasks with limited supervision.
  • Should be responsible for preparation of project quality plan / procedures.
  • Ensure implementation of quality plans and procedures.
  • Supervision of welding and NDT activity.
  • Reviews and internal / external audits of quality management systems.
  • Planning and implementation of the Quality Assurance activates within major projects and coordination, implementation of the major projects quality control activities.
  • Review, preparation, acceptance of Quality Manuals, quality plans, inspection & test plans, QA procedures, QC procedures, work-site instructions.
  • Preparation/acceptance of QC certification records, mechanical completion certificates and associated records / test sheets, to the issuing of certificates of safety for the plant / works.
