ENGINEERING JOBS
Our client is seeking candidates for a role based in St. John's, Newfoundland on a one year renewable contract. We are accepting applications from qualified Controls Engineer candidates.
Principal Activities, Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform Controls Design for all client facilities both regulated and non-regulated
- Prepare conceptual designs, feasibility studies and estimates for a variety of system modifications or expansions
- Prepare detailed design drawings for a wide variety of utility generation, transmission & distribution systems
- Create logic in programmable logic controllers and distributed control systems for the control of different systems
- Program operator console systems for terminal stations, gas turbines and diesel, hydro and thermal generating plants
- Evaluate different control platforms and network protocols
- Identify can categorize control system input/output (I/O) and alarming requirements
- Prepare budget proposals with justification, cost estimates and cash flows
- Prepare project design transmittals, cash flows, asset assignment forms, schedules, work breakdown structures for approved projects
- Prepare contract documents and technical specifications, evaluate the tenders, prepare evaluation reports and make recommendations to award
- Review manufacturers/consultants drawings to verify conformity with design criteria and company standards and operating philosophies
- Monitor progress of equipment manufacture, do inspections and participate in factory testing of the equipment. Review test reports to ensure compliance with schedules and technical and commercial requirements
- Prepare procedures for and participate in the commissioning of installed equipment
- Prepare and/or review "as built" drawings and operating maintenance manuals
- Prepare Requests for Proposals for outside consulting services, evaluate proposals and recommend award. Direct activities of outside consultants to ensure services are delivered according to contract requirements
- Conduct Engineering studies and assessments for a variety of issues and prepare reports on same
- Ensure continuous improvement of engineering skills and competencies and maintain awareness of industry progress in control and automation developments and standards
- Affix professional seal to documents and drawing.
Education:
- Bachelor of engineering degree with specialization in controls
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the control discipline
- 5 years experience since graduation
