As part of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group (Shell), one of the worlds leading oil and gas companies, Shell Indonesia shares a rich history with Indonesia that reaches back over 100 years. PT. Shell Indonesia with major operation in downstream business at the moment manages business operations that include marketing and trading oil products directly as well as through its appointed distributors.



Shell Indonesia is also seriously looking at oil and gas exploration opportunities and plan to establish a significant presence in the upstream sector.


Responsibilities:

Accountabilities The Advisor is expected to develop an understanding of the Indonesia business, political trends and key decision makers/influences, as well as an understanding of the key drivers for Shell Group success.


The VP/Senior Advisor Asia Pacific will guide the Advisor on resolution of difficult political or governance issues and the Advisor is expected to possess judgment to identify key issues that require consultation.
 
Advocacy and advice
Supports the management of issues that are impacted by Government.
Provides advice to the businesses on Government relations strategy, including representation on issues.
Advises and represents the interests of the businesses with Government officials.
Supports representation by Shell with a number of external groups as required


Business Delivery
Advise and brief Country Chair of Indonesia and business leaders on issues and opportunities related to external stakeholder engagement to maximize value,
Ensure appropriate alignment (and coordinate the involvement) of staff from various parts of Shell (Businesses and Functions) in the management of country level issues and/or cross-border business opportunities.
 
Leveraging Relationships
Develop independent access to country information and insights for use by businesses;
Cultivate relationships with relevant external stakeholders especially with diplomats and business associations;
Leverage external perspectives and form own perspectives on country issues for their impact on the country and/or Group;
Represent Shell, as appropriate, in key events and initiatives
 
Requirements:
Experience and Qualifications required :
• 8 to 10 years experience in a mix of business, government /diplomatic and Government Relations / Communications roles;
• Strong personal and business integrity;
• Ability to manage and deliver against short deadlines;
• Strong influencing/motivating skills and ability to drive delivery through others;
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, at all levels;
• Good communicator - verbal and written;
• Experience in Issues Management and Crisis Management;
• Good knowledge of governance and business control frameworks;
• Sufficient language or cultural awareness for Indonesia market
• A good knowledge and understanding of public policy and Shells business and technical capabilities as they relate to the energy industry generally
