ENGINEERING JOBS

One of the biggest engineering companies in Brunei is looking for qualified and experienced candidates for below categories:



1.     Project / Contract Managers (PM)

The PM shall be fluent in the English Language, have an engineering background with at least 15 years experience in project management and Oil and Gas construction activities (mechanical/ civil) and have a recognized qualification, degree or similar.

He shall be responsible for the administration of all aspects of the CONTRACT, including, but not limited to:

a.     Project Management

b.    Engineering and construction aspects.

c.     Installation

d.    Commercial aspects

e.     Resolution of disputes

f.     Performance, including inter alia workmanship, productivity

g.    Safety.

h.     Manpower selection, qualifications and management.

i.      WORK planning.

j.      Maintenance of CONTRACT documentation, drawings and records.

k.     All quality matters



2.     Mechanical Field Engineers

The Mechanical Engineer shall have an engineering background with at least 10 years experience in project management and onshore construction and have a recognized qualification, degree or similar.

The Mechanical Field Engineer will:

  1. Be skilled in the fabrication and erection of pipework, the general maintenance and repair of process and power plant. The setting up and leveling of equipment and the aligning of rotating equipment;
  2. be capable of interpreting engineering drawings and have a good knowledge of industrial quality and safety standards;
  3. be fluent in the English language (both spoken and written);
  4. be capable of supervising the artisans and performing any administrative work. Such activities may include but will not be limited to obtaining and renewing work permits,(e.g. Clearance Certificates, Fire Permits etc.), submitting daily time sheets, input required data for the COMPANY computerized engineering administration systems;
  5. have received an engineering apprenticeship or training in Mechanical Engineering and have had approximately six (6) years further suitable experience with a minimum of two (2) years satisfactory supervisory experience;
  6. be capable of organising the WORKS to be carried out and co-ordinating with contractors Project Co-ordinator and COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE on all aspects of the WORKS.



3.     Civil Field Engineers

The Civil Field Engineer shall be qualified to a minimum HND level in Civil Engineering with a 10 year experience in supervision in the field of major construction and maintenance of oil and gas producing facilities.

Particular experience shall include:

  1. Detailed planning for construction activities.
  2. Preparation of construction packages detailing workscope and installation procedures.
  3. Preparation of site sketches/drawings for issue to construction crews to aid design drawings.
  4. Supervision of construction crews/teams in the execution of work.
  5. Application of safety philosophies in the construction environment e.g. Safety briefings / meetings, "Tool Box Talks", Unsafe Act audits etc.
  6. Materials control
  7. Pre commissioning activities.
  8. Preparation of Job Activities



4.     Planners

The Planner shall have hold an appropriate Technical qualification and have a minimum of five years demonstrable experience of turn around planning on medium sized "brown field" projects in the oil and gas industry. Shutdown experience may be either offshore or onshore and cover at least two projects with strong mechanical/piping elements.

He/she shall be highly experienced in:

a.     Primavera or Microsoft Project (or equivalent) planning software (latest version)

b.    Critical Path Analysis planning techniques and the preparation of "Gantt Charts".

c.     Methods of reporting/presenting planning, progress and forecast data etc.

d.    Trend analysis and forecasting techniques.



Responsibilities will include:

a.     Monitoring work progress on a daily basis and producing weekly and monthly forecast.

b. Contribute significantly to the preparation of level 3 "workpacks" or "job cards" in compliance with the contract requirements.

c.     Assess and determine actual physical progress.

d.    Develop recovery plan as and when required.




5.     Materials/Procurement Coordinators

The Materials Coordinator shall have proven experience of at least ten (10) years to develop and manage the site materials management system. He/she shall have much experience working on a construction site and preferably in a shutdown context.

He/she shall be familiar with:  

  1. familiar with the Shell MESC coding systems
  2. materials storage and control
  3. (iii materials delivery and receipt
  4. materials requisition and tracking at item level
  5. expediting
  6. materials reconciliation



6.     Quantity Surveyors

A quantity surveyor shall:

  1. Hold a recognized degree/diploma or equivalent professional Quantity Surveying qualification.
  2. Have a minimum of three (3) years practical experience in Quantity Surveying within the Oil and Gas industry.
  3. Be fluent in both spoken and written English.



7.     HSSE Officers

HSE Officer will:-

  1. Have at least 5 years of experience in oil and gas industry as an HSSE Officer with recognized HSE training certificates. He will have an excellent knowledge of all aspects related to Health, Safety and Environment.
  2. fluent in English and fully conversant with the COMPANY HSE Standards and Specifications



8.     QA/QC Coordinator/ Inspectors

He/she shall be able to demonstrate to have sufficient knowledge and experience of petro-chemical projects. Has a minimum of 10 years experience in quality assurance and control role including supervision of QA/QC activities, with a solid Engineering background and CSWIP 3.2 or equivalent qualification. Shall also hold a recognized approved qualification in Quality, such as ISO 9000 lead assessor and certified to interpret RT film. Will have detailed knowledge of NDT techniques and welding and is a certified third party lead auditor.

A co-ordinator(s) will likely hold a HND or equivalent qualifications with minimum of Ten (10) years experience.

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to);

a.     Development and implementation of the quality plan

b.    Demonstration of quality control of all "tools" that can affect quality, ref. Torque wrenches, Pressure Gauges, Callipers, etc.

c.     To be able to identify, develop and implement corrective actions.

d.    To approve and comment on welding procedures, and to generate welding instructors.

e.     To ensure smooth safe delivery of the Quality Plan.




9.     Scaffold Superintendents

He/she shall have the full range of skills and certificates applicable to their trade in oil refinery, gas, power or petro-chemical plant; being skilled in the erection and inspection of scaffolds as are required to assist the overhaul of vessels, columns, heat exchangers, spading, opening, closing, as well as small project activities, etc. Holds Certificate of Competency Scaffold, Safety Inspection, and/or National Vocational Qualifications or equivalent and has a minimum of 10 years experience in the scaffolding industry and he/she must be fluent in both spoken and written English.

The Scaffold Superintendent shall also be responsible to design and make calculation for the erection of scaffolds as are required to assist the overhaul of vessels, columns, heat exchangers, spading, opening, closing, as well as small project activities, etc




10.  Senior Supervisors

The Senior Supervisor shall possess approximately ten (10) years experience with a minimum of five (5) years satisfactory supervisory experience and received an engineering apprenticeship or training in Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities shall include:

a.     Be skilled in the fabrication and erection of pipework, the general maintenance of process and power plant. The setting up and leveling of equipment and the aligning of rotating equipment;

b.    Be capable of interpreting engineering drawings and have knowledge of industrial safety;

c.     Be fluent in the English language (both spoken and written);

d.    Be capable of supervising the artisans and performing any administrative work. Such activities may include but will not be limited to obtaining and renewing work permits,(e.g. Clearance Certificates, Fire Permits etc.), submitting daily time sheets, input required data for the COMPANY computerized engineering administration systems;
