Our client is a global OEM in the power generation industry.
They are undergoing strong expansion in their business and demands for the specialty items have increased.
Despite the increased in demand, the client will not allow a compromise in quality production.
With this in mind, they are further ramping up their quality team and one key position within the factory structure is the welding engineering manager.
Position: Welding Engineer Manager To ensure that all welding-related matter (covering Welding Procedures, Welder Qualification and Workshop Welding Activities Surveillance) in the workshop meet the requirement of customer and all welding standard/code applicable for the job. This position is responsible for developing welding processes and guidelines to improve overall quality and productivity of the shop, research and study for new technology/ equipment for future development. |
| Network & Links
Internal: Intensively communicate with QC Manager, Workshop Manager, Project Quality Engineer, discussing project technical-related issues, with Tender Manager for tender preparation, and with Investment Engineer for Capital Expenditures issues.
External: Communicate with third parties (Authorized Inspector, Notified Body) as well as with customer for welding-related matters. To discuss with vendor of welding equipment or welding consumable if necessary. Also need to maintain good relationship with other global factories or engineering groups of Product Lines. |
| Tasks and Responsibilities - Provide input on Welding Issues to Tendering team during tender process, including Welding Engineering hour’s calculation for tendering purpose.
- Prepare the budget for Welding Engineering Department & manage the cost centers expenses.
- Prepare and maintain road map of Welding School in order to face future welding technology as well as new material to be fabricated & the required number of welders based on upcoming project schedules from Production Planning & Control Dept.
- Continuously study recent technology related to material and welding technology.
- Managing and coaching member of Welding Engineering Department in solving problems, also to improve weld quality related to new technology, design, standard and Code requirement, and customer specification.
- Build relationship with other welding expert within the group to facilitate faster and smoother discussion or transfer of knowledge / technology with other shops or engineering groups.
- Work with Quality Control and Workshop to analyze welding rejections and to initiate improvement activities to reduce/eliminate weld rejects.
- To ensure welder training & qualification process including required indoctrination prior to production start
- To ensure all required welding procedures preparation and its availability during production process
- To ensure effective welder on-site surveillance and coaching to improve welder performance
- To ensure welding consumables calculation and forecasting to support production continuity.
- Ascertains safe working condition, healthy and environment in the work and reports condition of danger at supervisor.
- Obeys all related regulations of EHS in area job activity.
- Does job safety analysis and socializes at the team.
- Ascertains availability of resources (budget, equipment, training, etc) to fulfill EHS requirement.

· 70% of the role responsibilities would be factory focused
· 30% would be project focused.
