This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished solid fuels power plant professional to lead teams and projects with minimal travel. Position: Project Lead - Boiler projects, Mechanical Engineering
Work Location: Charlotte, NC
The Client: A global supplier of sustainable technology and services for mining, construction, power generation, automation, recycling and the pulp and paper industries.
• Employs ~30,000 around the globe.

Job Description:
• Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering and design activities for boiler service projects
• Lead small teams - designers, sub-contractors/out-sourced resources - in cradle to grave/sale to delivery
• Manage the engineering schedule - scheduling, resource planning, tracking deliverables
• On time and on budget performance for mechanical engineering and design activities
• Interface with the customer on mechanical engineering and design issues
• Ensure compliance and conformance with regulations and customer requirements
• Issue technical specifications for purchased items
• Review in-house and supplier drawing for accuracy and compliance
• Provide engineering/erection support, verification of design, measurements
• Further develop project objectives into team and individual goals to provide clear direction and priorities
• Continuous improvement of engineering tools, procedures, and guidelines
• Assess and ensure training and development of mechanical engineers and designers
• Monitor performance of mechanical engineers and designers
• Assist Project Managers with project plans
• Perform site visits during design phase
• Some travel, ~2 days per month, within North America
Experience Profile:
• 5+ years of experience with solid fuel boilers
• Experience coordinating or leading mechanical design activities for power generation infrastructure
• Experience with engineering calculations, stress, loads, steel modifications, etc.
• Experience in project execution, planning, budgeting
• Experience using AutoCAD for viewing design drawings
• Proficiency with MS Office
• Stable record of direct employment
Helpful/Preferred:
• Experience in service projects (retrofits, rebuilds, etc.) in the power generation industry
• Experience replacing/upgrading superheaters, air systems, pollution control, floor
• Experience supervising design teams
• Knowledge of electrical systems for power plant
• Education, training, or on-the-job experience in drafting
• Knowledge of ProArc or other document handling software
• Experience with PDMS or similar 3D software for piping activities
• AS or BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or another applicable subject
