Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Senior Risk Engineer located in London or Aberdeen.


Overview:This position will provide major hazards risk engineering support for Chevron’s regional operating companies, projects and joint ventures, both upstream and downstream. The position will also involve the application of the Company’s risk management process (RiskMan2), with an emphasis on quantitative risk assessment techniques, although familiarity with qualitative techniques is also important. Key services include expert consulting on risk assessment and risk decision-making during capital project execution, supporting existing facilities in applying risk management techniques, and developing and delivering training programs for various aspects of risk management.
The HES Department provides technology research & development and technical services to nearly all of Chevron’s operating companies (OPCOs) and business units (BUs). It is staffed by a group of approximately 200 professionals delivering leading edge technology and practical, cost effective solutions in Environmental, Operations, Safety, and Health & Product Stewardship.

ETC is a fully integrated upstream/downstream technology company providing expert technical consulting services worldwide. The position includes regular foreign travel within the region and also to Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific regions, typically for 2 weeks at a time. Major Chevron clients are located in Europe, Central Asia, China, Australia, Angola, Nigeria and potentially any operating company within Chevron.

Position Details:
Key Job Responsibilities for this position:
• Provide technical leadership and expertise in the application and development of major hazards risk assessment for the full range of upstream and downstream oil industry facilities.
• Perform consequence modeling for fire, explosion and toxic releases utilizing proprietary software
• Provide on-site facilitation of Hazard Identification Studies (HAZID), and other qualitative risk assessment processes such as preliminary hazard reviews, What-If/Checklist Develop and deliver training programs in HES Risk Identification, risk assessment and consequence modeling
• Provide consultation to Chevron operating company engineers, project teams and other personnel in risk management and emergency response (emergency egress, evacuation, escape, rescue and recovery).
• Provide technical services and guidance to support Process Safety and Risk Management activities across the Enterprise with particular emphasis on our external partnerships with engineering design contractors, consultants, professional societies and research institutions.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science (Physics, Mathematics)
• Likely 5+ years of experience in an operating facility, or equivalent, with experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Process Engineering, Capital Project Management, Safe Operations, Process Safety Management, or Risk Assessment
• Significantly proficient in applying quantitative risk assessment techniques. Reasonably proficient in applying qualitative risk assessment techniques
• Organization and multi-tasking skills to juggle and meet several customers’ needs at once. Ability to work independently
• Strong oral and written communication skills including: group presentation, facilitation, and training.
• Analytical/problem-solving skills to develop cost-effective solutions.
• Sound understanding of the engineering principles of underlying process plant designs and operation.
