ENGINEERING JOBS

One of our clients, a Major International Operator is seeking a Drilling Engineer to join their team.

Reporting to the Drilling Engineering Team Lead, this position is located in Calgary, Alberta and is responsible for providing engineering support to their Drilling Department.


Responsibilities
o Providing complete and thorough project drilling research to identify in advance any potential drilling problems
o Participate in the Operations Hazard Review Process and identify plans to mitigate identified risks
o Providing a complete cost estimate in a timely manner
o Evaluating Service Provider technical proposals in developing a complete and thorough well design and well program in a timely manner
o Providing daily monitoring and Engineering support, working as a team with the Superintendent, Rig Supervisor and Asset Team to efficiently execute the well plan
o Reviewing Wellview reports for accuracy, and work with Wellview Administrators to ensure Wellview data integrity
o Providing back up support for the Drilling Superintendent and Drilling Supervisor as required
o Providing sound project management, and being a leader in communications with the Asset Team and all stakeholders
o Scheduling projects and manage the rig schedule to provide rig "level loading" to minimize stand by time
o Working closely with the Asset Teams to provide 30-day rig ready project schedules
o Demonstrate strong capital management by providing actual vs. budget reviews for wells by updating drilling curves daily. Provide Supplemental AFE's to the Asset Team prior to exceeding the AFE cost when it is apparent the AFE will exceed 10% or within 7 days of rig release
o Providing quarterly review for wells to Drilling Management and the Asset Teams
o Reviewing and authorizing all cement, directional and drilling fluid invoices
o Participating onsite for Start-up, Pre-Spud and Safety Stand Down meetings for all rigs in your assigned areas
o Capturing your key learning, accomplishments, savings and opportunities for continuous improvement for your assigned wells in the appropriate Knowledge Sharing portal
o Mentoring less experienced Drilling Engineers
o Leveraging vendors to identify new processes and new technology that may lead to improved drilling efficiency or cost savings
o Providing technical support for Global and Division procurement efforts

Basic/Required Qualifications
o Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
o Minimum 5 years of industry related experience
o Ability to travel and work on location as required
o Legally permitted to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions

Preferred Qualifications
o Proficient in computer programs, including Wellview and MS Office
o Strong preference for candidates with experience in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin
o Horizontal Well experience
o Working knowledge of the Landmark suite of design software programs
