Drive a safe inspection culture across the Corporation
Foster networking of Site Inspection personnel for consistent application of practices
Ensure that new capital construction piping & equipment meet Albemarle's specifications
Monitor & plan training of Inspection personnel at all domestic sites
Participate in and contribute to new Inspector hiring and third-party contracting processes
ACCOUNTABILITIES (Results)
Ensure that all Inspection personnel are adequately trained, including on all safety aspects of their inspection activities.
Ensure that all pressure vessel repairs and piping fabrication comply with applicable Albemarle specifications and Code requirements
Ensure consistent internal and external mechanical integrity inspections take place in a timely fashion at all sites.
Ensure that source inspections and final acceptance testing of new equipment take place in a timely fashion.
RESPONSIBILITIES (Activities)
Understands the importance of Health, Safety and Environment issues to the success of our organization, and acts as a safety champion for all inspection activities
Annually audit QC manuals and associated systems and procedures at each site related to good engineering practices, including the National Board Code Repair Program, where applicable.
Update and create Corporate and Site Inspection forms and standard operating procedures, including PQR's, WPS's, Inspection Protocols, etc.)
Conduct fabrication shop audits and certify them for inclusion on an up to date bid list.
Update and maintain Albemarle's Approved Bidder's List for fabricated equipment and piping.
Develop Risk Based Inspection methodologies for the Corporation, and champion implementation.
Keep updated training records for all Inspection personnel, including in-house contractors.
Develop and maintain an Approved List of Third Party Inspectors for source inspections, as appropriate for our evolving global sourcing needs.
Maintain personal authorization as a National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessels Code Authorized Inspector.
Maintain knowledge of nondestructive testing techniques applicable to inspection of plant equipment.
Consult with Project & Maintenance Engineers on selection of vendors for fabrication of new equipment, or repair/modification of existing equipment.
Provide direct and indirect support (coverage, planning, evaluation) to Sites for major turnarounds.
Where appropriate based on the nature of the fabrication, develop customized Inspection & Testing Protocols for new or existing equipment.
Knowledgeable and well-versed with CPI-specific ASME, ASTM, AWS, and API Codes and specifications.
National Board of Inspection Code (NBIC) certification required, or ability to obtain.
American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) NDT Level III certification required, or ability to obtain.
Confined-Space trained and capable, or ability to obtain.
Minimum 10 years in industrial inspection and quality assurance.
Experience with Risk Based Inspection methodologies.
Familiarity with most materials of construction such as glass lined steel, exotic alloys (e.g. - titanium, tantalum, high nickel alloys, etc.), ceramics, fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), and plastic lined pipe and equipment.
Familiarity with ASME Section VIII - 1 relief valves and testing requirements.
Ability to travel as much as 60% of the time to domestic and international locations.
Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently at all levels of the Corporation.
Spoken and written English is a requirement.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
BSME with design experience related to pressure vessels
Familiarity and experience with pressure vessel design software and ASME VIII - 1 Code calculations
Familiarity and experience with API RP-579 / ASME FFS-1 Fitness for Service assessments
International experience with qualifying fabrication shops and contract inspection firms.
Past experience in hands-on ASME Code-qualified welding
Past experience in Fabrication shops
Fluency in Dutch, Chinese, German, Korean, and/or Arabic are all desirable.
