Location: Houston, TX
Education:
* Degree in Geoscience. Second degree is helpful
* Oil Industry Training courses relevant to main aspects of oil and gas exploration
Experience:
* Minimum 10 years exploration and production geosciences experience, mostly operating, with reputable company.
* Experience working in W. Africa preferred but not essential
Qualifications:
* Demonstrated ability to generate exploration ideas and follow them through to drilling
* Understanding of the Petroleum System components for exploration
* Knowledge and experience of interpreting deepwater depositional systems
* Exploration experience, Deepwater experience, Turbidites or Clastics, preferably but not absolutely West Africa experience
* Exposure to, and reporting of, ongoing drilling operations
* Preferably some exposure to appraisal and/or development projects
* Understanding of geological techniques including rock and fluid analysis
* Well-log interpretation software, contouring packages and volumetric calculation skills required
* Must have a knowledge of deepwater depositional systems, particularly seismic/sequence stratigraphy.
Description:
Essential responsibilities include:
* Perform regional and prospect specific geological studies resulting in the generation of drillable prospects within our West Africa licenses
* Work closely with geophysicists, engineers, management, partners and government to ensure the best prospects are identified and quantified.
* Incorporate commercial and strategic thinking into technical evaluation.
* Continuously update suitable play analysis for our blocks and the region.
* Use regional evaluations to recommend areas of interest, around our existing blocks
