Job Description

Australia Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas (APLNG) is a Joint Venture of ConocoPhillips (COP), Origin Energy, and Sinopec seeking to accelerate the development and production of its Coal Seam Gas (CSG) reserves in Queensland through the development of a CSG to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project. ConocoPhillips Australia is the operator of the Downstream LNG facilities located on Curtis Island, Gladstone on behalf of Australia Pacific LNG.

An opportunity exists in our Gladstone project team for an experienced Piping / Welding Inspector interested in taking on a new challenge within a dynamic large-scale project environment. This role will be offered on a contract basis. Reporting to the Site QA/QC Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing surveillance and inspection of work monitoring production quality and compliance with project specifications, codes and standards. You will be involved in construction inspection and testing activities as per approved inspection and test plans. Part of your role will be to monitor the performance of the project site welding program that includes the performance of EPC contractors.

Desired Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will a degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer with a background in the oil and gas or hydrocarbons industry with specialist knowledge of welding and pressure equipment. QA/QC field experience with mechanical/pressure equipment is essential. As a key member of the team, you will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills combined with the ability to effectively plan and prioritize responsibilities. An ability to work autonomously as well as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team will be essential to your success.
