ENGINEERING JOBS

A major EPCM is seeking a highly qualified candidate for their role of Senior Instrumentation & Controls Designer to be located in the St. John's office.

Area(s) of Responsibility:
Broad and extensive knowledge of offshore facilities, specifically Drilling facilities, and the inter-dependencies of design disciplines in the engineering process, and of offshore codes, regulations and standards, including C-NLOPB regulations.


Key Tasks
- Will leverage past experience with DCDA (Drilling Control Data Acquisition)
- Will have a background in Drilling equipment, and Drill Floor engineering and design
- Review engineering work scope and design documents to ensure they are properly defined and completed to support procurement packages, fabrication, and installation
- Responsible for the design of the drilling modules and ensure that technical solutions will meet the requirements of the client's scope of work.
- Participates in project planning, execution, and organization strategy sessions with the Engineering Manager, Project Manager, Project Controls Manager, Construction Manager, Procurement Manager, and Contracts Manager
- Reviews design work to ensure it is completed to industry standards and regulations, and is consistent with the project objectives of safety, operability, reliability and cost effectiveness.
- Production of cost effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both the company and the Client. Motivation of discipline personnel allocated to own area of responsibility to do similarly.
- Originating engineering documentation for allocated workscopes, e.g. calculations, design reports and specifications, and checking similar documentation and workpacks created by others.
- Ensuring operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design. Seeking input from operations and maintenance personnel and, if beneficial, carrying out presentations to site personnel regarding changes to their installation.
- Surveys, both onshore and offshore, to determine information to allow execution of workscopes.
- Raising requisitions for purchase of engineered items and services, as directed by the Lead Discipline Engineer.
- Execution of work within manhour budget and time schedule.
- Early identification to the Lead Discipline Engineer of areas of concern during the course of any project or study with necessary corrective action identified.
- Checking engineering content of design deliverables for allocated workscopes, e.g. drawings, bills of material.
- Review of Supplier / Vendor documents.
- Communication, where appropriate, with Engineers of other disciplines to ensure design integrity and consistency.
- Technical input to procurement activities and raising requisitions for purchase of engineered items and services.
- Identification of increase or reduction in scope of work and advising the Lead Discipline Engineer accordingly.

 
Education:
Bachelor of Engineering, or Bachelor of Science in Engineering (or accredited equivalent). Should be able to register with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years' experience within the Oil and Gas industry, preferably with Drilling facilities, with at least 5 years' experience in design.
