UD-A teams primarily performs front-end technical studies for exploration,appraisal and development,as well as new business opportunities, within the Upstream business. The teams deliver technical services,know-how related to hydrocarbon maturation,plus petroleum and conceptual engineering support. The UD-A team also provides global theme expertise for Deepwater, Unconventional and Heavy Oil/EOR/CSS fields.
Position Purpose:
Senior Production Technologist (often called Production Engineer outside Shell) in a multi-disciplinary team to provide fit for purpose Production Technology solutions to new green field or re-development of brown field Deepwater or Unconventional Gas/Light Tight Oil or Heavy Oil/EOR/Carbon Dioxide Sequestration type projects. This position provides opportunities for the PT to be involved in the early phases of major projects where he or she influences overall concept selection and directly influences the conceptual design of new wells and the gathering and production systems for future Production Technologists during the producing phase of the asset's life. This position also provides unique opportunities to develop or deepen one's PT skills in deepwater or unconventional tight gas/oil,or heavy oil,thermal/miscible/chemical EOR or carbon dioxide sequestration,and to mentor more junior staff.

Job Description
Upstream Development - Americas (UDA) is a part of Global Solutions Upstream (GSU) and in tasked with pre-DG3 project development,primarily in the Americas Region,but we are also heavily involved in projects in China and Deep Water Nigeria. UDA provides world class integrated project teams and expert individual contributors to the themes and businesses we support: Exploration and New Business Development,EOR/Heavy Oil,Unconventional Gas/LTO,and Deep Water. Our wide range of capabilities including surface engineering,development planning,and the full gamut of subsurface disciplines,make us unique within Shell.UD-A teams primarily performs front-end technical studies for exploration,appraisal and development,as well as new business opportunities, within the Upstream business. Principal Accountabilities :
- Candidate is accountable to provide expert advice primarily to pre-FEED and execution green and brown field development studies
- Specifically, candidate will identify, model and assess key PT-related risks and uncertainties, potential show-stoppers and suitability of new technologies and build consensus on recommendations
- Specifically these include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
- Well inflow-outflow & sand stability modeling, completion selection and functional specifications including well shape, sand control, smart equipment, chemical injection, artificial lift and intergity requirements for both production and injection wells
- Gathering/injection system modeling
- Well and reservoir management
- In addition as a Sr PT provide Peer Assists and Technical Reviews of other Projects, share his or her learnings in inter-departmental meetings, be a Technical Mentor to less experienced staff and depending on skills/opportunity, teach Shell courses
Desired Skills & Experience
- The Senior Production Technologist will support one or more
projects involving several to 100's of wells with completion cost of a
single well ranging from <$1 to over $100 MM USD total project cost
ranges from tens of millions to over a billion dollars
Special Challenges: - Working at a high level of technical competence, often under time pressure
- Ability to identify and propose PT solutions given limited or incomplete data
- Building and maintaining good working relationships with stakeholders
Experience and Qualifications required: - University Degree in related field and at least 10 years of broad Production Technology experience in new field developments and producing assets
- Comprehensive knowledge of the full range of G&G/PP/RE/PT/CE/WE activities from static to dynamic to well planning to field development
- Production Technology modeling skills, mastery of PROSPER, MBAL, GAP and skill in REVEAL, StimPlan, WELLCAT
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, present, build consensus on and document work and recommendations
- Exhibiting cross-discipline competence and appreciate the contributions made by other disciplines
- Candidate will take applicable Shell and industry courses and attend industry conferences as appropriate
- Opportunities exist after 4 years to continue in Shell's Project & Technology department or transfer to other departments in Shell US or overseas
