ENGINEERING JOBS
Requirements:
* Minimum of 10 years of experience;
* BS/MS/PhD Geosciences, Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering;
* Candidates with specific experience of providing pore pressure inputs into the exploration and drilling of Deepwater Gulf of Mexico prospects are preferred (though not a prerequisite);
* Experience in practicing pore pressure prediction in a variety of onshore and offshore environments would also be beneficial
* Ideally, the candidate should have an understanding of how seismic velocities are processed prior to use within the pore pressure workflow;
* Additional knowledge of specific wellbore stability prediction workflows would also be beneficial as pore pressure is a fundamental input into the well construction process;
* This position will require the candidate to work within a dynamic team setting where accurate pore pressure profiles impact both exploration and real-time drilling decisions.
This Houston-based expert will work within the EPTech
Geomechanics group as a world-wide resource for the detection,
quantification, and characterization of pressure and stress in a variety
of basins. Special attention will be needed in the Deepwater Gulf of
Mexico. The candidate is expected to have skills in pore pressure
characterization that spans the exploration, development and drilling
phases.
Specific Skills required:
* 1D detection of pressure from typical well log measurements of resistivity, sonic, or density;
* Seismic detection of overpressure using interval velocities at the 1D through 3D scale;
* Integration of direct pressure measurements from formation testers, piezoprobes, and build-up tests with log and seismic estimates;
* Integration of drilling parameters such as mudweight, frac-gradient, kicks, stuck pipe, etc. with pressure estimates from a variety of sources;
* Integration of all pore pressure and stress information for determining regional seal capacity and charge risks;
* Characterization of specific drilling hazards such as shallow-sand overpressures, gas hydrates, and depleted intervals;
* Knowledge of wellbore stability and geomechanics used in the well construction process;
* Exposure to basin modeling as an additional tool in the characterization of regional pore pressure.
