Job Description

REPORTS TO:              Project Manager
DIVISION:                     Subsea Support – Projects Group
DEPARTMENT:            Subsea Support – Projects Group
LOCATION:                  Aberdeen / Houston / Rio /Singapore – and various domestic   and international project locations
BASIC FUNCTION:  Responsible to coordinate all BOP, drilling well head equipment and related subsea systems project activities for all shipyard projects incurred in EAU. Provide guidance and support to each project team in planning, developing scope, budgeting for all project activities related to the discipline.

 
DUTIES:                                                                                                                                                                                          
1.  Plan, conduct survey, collect information to develop scope of work, budget and schedule related to BOP, well head equipment  and subsea system  for  shipyard project . Develop equipment specifications, list of parts required to upgrade or repair the equipment and systems Check fleet spare availability. 
2.  Maintain dialog and interface with BOP and related Subsea systems technical community including Engineering, Field Support, technical committees, OEM, class etc…to collect and dispatch all information related to Alerts, regulations, lesson learned, training, new certifications  required , fleet spare etc….Inform Project team accordingly. 
3.  Develop strong relationship with each Subsea related equipments vendors, OEM and workshop (worldwide).  Support project team, plan and monitor equipment repair in the appropriate workshop, coordinate, track progress for repair and equipment delivery and ensured that work and equipment are delivered and tested in accordance with the design criteria (as defined for the project), class rules, and governmental regulations, Company policies, customer expectation and standards.  Manage fleet spare availability as required for long term project.  Ensure appropriate documentation and certification package is delivered.  Attend and record results of FAT. 
4.  Follow up and solve any outstanding or warranty issues with vendors /OEM.  Attend project risk assessment session and project close out meeting to collect lesson learned. 
5.  Assist shipyard project team as required, supervise subsea engineer assigned on the project and monitor project and RTD progress. Visit shipyard project as required.  Attend weekly conference call and budget review meeting. 
6.  Identify, recruit, develop and organize appropriate training for  subsea engineer
7.  Prepare tender and issue RFQ to vendors to procure new equipment and spare parts in accordance with Company policies. Liaise with Supply chain dept. 
8.  Ensure project activities is implemented in RMS for each project. 
9.  Develop standard scope of work and certification packages required for BOP and subsea equipment repair. 
10.  Organize and attend commissioning  on site. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Formal technical or engineering training or engineering degree B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.Mechanical, or
 
EXPERIENCE:
5 to 10 years’ work experience minimum with drilling industry and related discipline.
 
SKILLS: demonstrate expertise in the designated discipline with management and planning capability.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Comprehensive experience in engineering, inspection and maintenance of well control equipment and widespread installation and commissioning experience for new and refurbished BOP’s and related well control equipment including BOP hydraulics controls, software control, marine risers, riser-tensioning systems, motion compensation systems and BOP/production tree control systems.  Also familiar Project in drilling industry and oilfield equipment, work experience with drilling rig and intimate familiarity with applicable codes and regulations (API, class…) related to the discipline and planning.

Persons directly supervised: up to 10
 
BUDGETS:
Value of equipment or system specified for projects: $0 - $ 15 millions.

Able to prioritize and manage daily situation related to Projects.  Must be self-motivated and possess superior skills to coordinate projects activities, identify and solve unusual problems associated with the assigned project and safety.  Has to have ability to ensure that all aspects of a problem are understood and effectively managed within the recommended solution.  Must be able to perform with a sense or urgency, and highest ethical standards without sacrificing on accuracy and professional engineering practices.
  
DECISION MAKING:
Acts independently to reach sound technical decisions concerning structural integrity and details of rigs.  Evaluates and recommends for manager’s approval all actions which have significant financial impact or operational consequences.
