NAM (Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij) is the most important producer of natural gas in the Netherlands and is part of Shell Upstream International Europe - UIE.

NAM is made up of three Assets – Groningen, ONE gas offshore in the Southern North Sea and Land. The Asset Land covers all onshore oil and gas fields with the exception of the Groningen field and the Norg and Grijpskerk underground gas storage facilities.

The main operational areas are in the North and East Netherlands but there is also significant activity around Rotterdam. Many of the fields and facilities are in mature and late field life stage, but at the same time the asset is continuously bringing new fields on-stream with innovative development concepts.

In addition to traditional development and production activities, the asset is successfully involved in pioneering a number of new concepts like carbon capture and storage, enhanced gas recovery using foam techniques and nitrogen injection. The asset’s future strategy is centered on becoming a world-class tail-end operator maximizing recovery at lowest possible cost and new developments with innovative concepts and the use of standardized, re-deployable modularized equipment concepts.

Job Description

We’re currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for its extensive infrastructure and a large and diverse number of facilities.

Your prime responsibility is to ensure technical integrity and equipment reliability by providing specialist
mechanical engineering support in the Engineering and Maintenance -E&M- team within the Asset Land. You will manage and act as the Team Lead of the Mechanical Static Team.
  • Provide support to the Technical Authority framework regarding mechanical/ static equipment for the asset Land facilities
  • Derive maintenance strategies and facilitate/ support RCM studies and analysis to improve equipment reliability and availability
  • Provide technical assurance of designs prepared by Contractors and Managing Maintenance Contracts
  • Fulfill and/or review Fit for purpose assessments and fast response on integrity related issues
  • Provide expertise and advice on deviations from codes & standards
  • Provide technical and commercial advice on all aspects on purchasing equipment
  • Organize and/or participate in technical audits and reviews, HAZOP´s, ECM and RBI studies
  • Establish strong relations among other disciplines - Materials & Corrosion, Inspection, Rotating Equipment
You give guidance and direction as the Team Lead and promote the application of new technologies regarding design and implementation methodologies.

Desired Skills & Experience

We are seeking an engineer with a Master of Science or Bachelor Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related and you should have a thorough knowledge and expert judgment in the selection and application of mechanical hardware. Experienced engineer in design- and maintenance programs preferably in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry.

Desirable is a registration as Chartered Engineer.

  • In-depth knowledge of all mechanical engineering and maintenance aspects
  • Substantial experiences with pressure vessels, air coolers, heat exchangers, storage tanks, piping systems and valves
  • Insight in various degradation mechanisms of mechanical equipment and applicable repair methods
