Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the G&G Team Lead, the Senior Geophysicist will be part of the Marcellus Delivery Unit.
- The primary focus of this role is to contribute and collaborate with other disciplines in order to provide technical support for the various Marcellus development projects and lead appropriate studies which may influence activities.
- Candidates will be required to apply a broad range of development geoscience skills, both independently and as part of the multi-disciplinary team, to deliver integrated technical studies.
- Tasks will involve Seismic interpretation, including advanced seismic interpretation technique (i.e, attribute analysis ,AVO..etc).
- Candidates will be expected to communicate the results of evaluations and research to their peers and management and actively partake in decision making and technical discussions; and be a mentor to junior team members.
Qualifications:
Candidates will be degree qualified with a Bachelor of Science, Geology, Geophysics or related Earth Science field together with an in-depth understanding of geoscience principles. The ideal candidate will have strong earth science experience and a sound understanding of geophysics principles. Significant experience gained with an operator will be highly regarded.
- At least 10 years petroleum industry experience
- Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team
- Familiar with integration of seismic with drilling and completion of horizontal wells
- Shale gas exploration and development experience is preferred, ideally in the Appalachian basin.
- Skilled in the use of petroleum geoscience software and databases including Petrel
