Our client, a major operator in St. John's, Newfoundland is seeking candidates for their permanent position of Risk Lead.

As the Risk Lead, you are responsible for overseeing and providing operations support for all areas of risk management. Specifically, you will provide supervision to the Risk Analysts, coordinate and support the Process Hazard Analysis process, provide direction in areas of quantitative risk, and support and monitor the implementation of Process Safety Management.


Specific responsibilities include:
- Advise the HSEQ Manager, and other affected Managers, on issues related to Risk Management and Process Safety
- Provide leadership and supervision to the Risk Team
- Ensure Risk Management Processes meeting Operational Integrity Standards are established and implemented
- Ensure the Quantitative Risk Assessment and supporting technical risk and safety studies are current
- Ensure compliance with the Safety Plan, including compliance with established Target Levels of Safety for the project
- Ensure Process Hazard Analysis are properly facilitated, reported on, and risk mitigations are implemented for ongoing operations, changes to existing facilities and projects.
- Provide support in the development of formal safety/risk studies for projects
- Report on Process Safety Metrics for ongoing production and drilling operations
- Identify and facilitate the implementation of improvements in Process Safety Management
- Participate in the emergency response team, as required
- Participate in incident investigations, as required
- Participate in operational integrity or process safety audits as required

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- An Engineering degree
- A minimum of 8 -10 years of related experience in a technical safety role working on offshore Oil & Gas developments
- Thorough understanding of the use and application of quantitative and qualitative risk analysis methodologies
- Thorough familiarity with the use and interpretation of related regulations and legislation (e.g. C-NLOPB, Transport Canada), Certifying Authority rule requirements, and other international codes and standards related to offshore safety systems
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Process Safety Management
- Strong leadership orientation that includes coaching, development of staff, and guidance of individuals toward goal achievement
