Geophysicist

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidates will work within an integrated team to support exploration and reservoir field teams. The following roles and responsibilities are envisaged
- Provide input into basin analysis and prospect identification for exploration access, prospect generation and appraisal
- Actively participate in basin and regional access evaluation
- Perform seismic interpretation in a variety of structural regimes incorporating a variety of geological data.
- Integrate with acquisition and processing specialists to ensure dataset quality is maximized
- Actively participate in the well planning process to optimize well locations (across the value chain) using a variety of geological and geophysical data
- Provide a range of geophysical models for uncertainty analysis and alternative outcomes
- Understand field production performance using a range of data including 4D seismic where available.
- Integrating geophysical work with geological and reservoir engineering analysis to provide unified interpretations
- Liaise with co-ventures and other parts of the COMPANY organization
- Input into the generation of appraisal plans for future developments
- Provide geophysical support for well planning and operations in close cooperation with Drilling & Completions teams
To be considered for the role of geophysicist, applicants must have:
- Relevant experience in oil/gas industry
- Experience in exploration, appraisal or development Geophysics
- Ability to work with a variety of geophysical datasets including 2D and 3D seismic as well as borehole geophysical data.
- Experience in exploration, appraisal or development geophysics
- Deep workstation interpretation skills
- Ability to work with geophysical data particularly the Openworks system
In addition to the essential qualifications, the successful candidate will likely be able to demonstrate skills in the following areas:
- Depth Conversion
- Seismic attribute analysis
- Interpretation workstation skills
- Operations – well planning and optimisation
- Opportunity Generation
- Experience with advanced visualization and analysis applications –
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to network with other parts of the organization
- Bias for action - does things before being asked to or forced to by events
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of the business context then acts accordingly
- Demonstrates shared commitment to the success of the team and the wider organisation
- Anticipates future situations and plans ahead to meet them
