ENGINEERING JOBS
A large Owner/Operator is looking for a Process Engineer to be based in Calgary, AB. The Process Engineer ensures that the requirements for process engineering on the projects are carried out faithfully, and in a timely fashion. Stewards process engineering aspects of the Project with other discipline leads on the PT, as necessary. Stewards the interfaces between the Project Team and the contractor's organization with respect to process engineering to ensure quality and appropriate management of change. Interfaces with Functional Support organization, as needed. Assists with performing other studies as required.
Responsibilities and duties:
Provide overall process engineering technical leadership and expertise
Stewards the contractor's activities with respect to process engineering including:
Process engineering required to develop the remaining FEED and Detailed Design deliverables
Adherence to Design One - Build Many (D1BM) philosophy (where appropriate) and management of change processes
Development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
Development of the schedule, recommended deliverables, and labor hour estimate for process engineering
Measurement and reporting of engineering progress
Selection, specification, and inspection of process and process control components
Procurement of process related tagged items including preparation of specifications, bid evaluations, bid tabulations, bid recommendations, etc.
Review, evaluate, and advise:
Process simulations, optimization, and feasibility studies
Process specifications, P&IDs, and PFDs
Compliance with design methods and safety factors to be used in design of project. Reviews completed Project Design Basis for correctness, compliance, and operability
Operability of the unit or plant for start up, normal, turndown, and shutdown modes. Reviews or sets design basis for abnormal operating conditions
Process pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up planning activities
Participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) reviews
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES:
Thorough and extensive knowledge of:
Process engineering principles, theories, and concepts
Applicable codes, standards, and trade practices
Thorough knowledge and expert judgment in the selection and application of process and process control hardware and software
Strong background, including operations, in oil and gas production or Oil Sands facilities and Utilities (i.e. Co generation)
Broad understanding of Safety aspects in design (API 14C regulations, relief and blowdown, passive and active fire protection, etc.)
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering)
7+ years of closely related professional engineering experience, 3+ years of which should be at the Senior Process Engineer level
Strong communication, coordination, technical and problem solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
