| Job Description | Principal Accountabilities:
1. Conduct in-house design and construction engineering of new plant facilities, in accordance with International Codes and Standards, Company Specifications and good engineering practices.
2. Conduct fitness for service on existing in-service static equipment and associated piping, to establish the Safe Maximum Allowable Working Pressure and service remnant life, to API 579-1/ASME FFS-1.
3. Conduct feasibility studies, in-house engineering for small to medium size projects.
4. Prepare/ provide mechanical input to the following technical documents:
- Statement of requirements
- Execution strategies
- Scope of work / services for new facilities and for modifications to existing equipment.
- Material requisitions as part of the Commercial Department’s purchase requisitions for new equipment.
- Engineering packages, including equipment specifications, datasheets, drawings etc.
- Consultant/ Engineer/ Contractor/ Vendor documentation reviews.
5. Carry out technical bid clarifications, assessments and evaluations on tendered equipment, engineering services and projects/ studies.
6. Review the design works and studies performed by Engineering Consultants and ensure that they are in accordance with the technical requirements. Review and approve drawings, specifications and technical; documents for all mechanical design related work.
7. Participate in site surveys of facilities to establish and identify actual requirements.
8. Provide technical assistance, coordination and liaison with other discipline engineers within the Engineering and Projects, Business Units, Support Units on all aspects of Engineering /technical matters, design reviews and audits.
9. Up to date with the latest Static Equipment Codes & Standards.
10. Able to use the Company static equipment software and ensure it is the latest version with respect to the International Codes and Standards.
11. Provide input/ update to Company Engineering Specifications, Procedures and Philosophies.
12. Participate in technical audits on Consultant/ Engineer/ Contractor/ Vendor offices, during pre-qualification and to monitor their performance during a project.
13. Participate as Company representative specialist on static equipment inspection and performance testing at Vendor’s workshop or at Company Sites.
14. Impart training particular to UAE nationals to meet their integration targets.
Minimum Requirements:
BSc in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Technical University.
Not less than 15 years experience in the oil & gas industry, of which at least 10 years related to design and construction engineering of static equipment, and also in writing equipment specifications.
Fluent in both spoken and written English, particularly technical report writing.
Proficient with mechanical static equipment design standards, related to the oil and gas industry, with respect to ASME 8 Division 1 & 2, TEMA, API 660, API 650, API 579-1/ ASME FFS-1 and relevant International Standards.
Computer literate with experience on technical software related to static equipment, eg PVElite, Mathcad or equivalent.
Computer Literate with experience using Microsoft Office, Visio and SmartPlant Foundation Engineering Document Management System (EDMS).
Self-motivated and ability to organize and priorities work to meet dead lines, work in a multi-discipline engineering team in conducting conceptual studies, FEED and detailed engineering.
Experienced in carrying out design analysis of pressure vessels, namely fatigue, thermal and discontinuity stresses, vessel support and nozzle reinforcement. |
