ENGINEERING JOBS

My client, a well capitalized private oil and gas company located in downtown Houston, is looking for their Vice President of Exploration.

The role will direct and manage the overall exploration and geological activities, including the evaluation and interpretation of all geological and geophysical data to develop oil and gas investment opportunities for the company.

Essential responsibilities:
•Manages and supervises the exploration department to achieve goals with available resources; plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff; and reviews progress and directs changes as needed.
• Manages and oversees reservoir development, exploration drilling, and land management.
• Oversees the recommendations on exploration opportunities through geophysics and geological analysis.
• Manages the interpretation and evaluation of subsurface geologic data to construct integrated maps and other geologic displays.
• Prepares and implements a consolidated exploration plan and budget to achieve goals and objectives of the company’s strategic plan.
•Plans and directs the potential and economic viability of internally and externally generated proposals for the company.
• Manages and supervises the coordination of all geological and geophysical data for the company.
• Manages compliance with all necessary operational government regulations and reporting.
• Develops and implements long-term development, exploitation, and exploration strategies to maximize profits for the company.

Other Responsibilities:
• Provides input and strategies for company’s overall management and profitability.
• Provides leadership in the development of short and long range plans; gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports and recommendations; coordinates department activities with other departments and work groups as needed.
• Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
• Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks and contributing to goals as needed.

Qualifications:
• Fifteen (15) years minimum oil and gas geologic and management experience with success at increasing job responsibilities.
• Ability to accurately solve problems.
• Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.

•Proven ability to quickly demonstrate a geotechnical mastery of company’s areas of operation and to be a catalyst for their development.
• Ability to create and sustain shared commitment to project completion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex technical and financial information into an organized manner.
• Outstanding management, administrative, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:

Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
PETRA or other geological data management software.

Educational Requirements: Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in geosciences.
Preferred: Master’s Degree from an accredited university
