Job Description

Subsea Engineer 

Position Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Hydraulics and fluid system maintenance and repair
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of BOP’s and control systems; riser tensioners and CMC functions; all wellhead equipment and running tools
  • Troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
  • Good safety record from past operations
  • Effective communication skills (written & oral)
  • Completion of all training requirements for Subsea Engineer
  • Computer skills in information systems
Essential Functions
Rig Operations
  • Planning for subsea systems operations, maintenance, and repair
  • Organize, brief, and directly control assistance team for pulling the BOP stack
  • Maintain knowledge of drilling operations to assemble and disassemble
  • Support operations involving subsea and surface support equipment
  • Perform calculations
  • Move heavy equipment
  • Install subsea equipment during drilling operations
  • Pre-plan all evolutions for most efficient, time effective operations
Maintenance and Repair
  • Install and maintain all components and parts
  • Maintain and test all drilling or marine subsea and surface support equipment
  • Troubleshoot all subsea and surface equipment and recommend corrective action
  • Witness all pressure, latch-up and weight set tests on subsea safety and/ or completion equipment to ensure all evolutions are performed safely and timely
  • Maintain internal and external preservation, of all subsea equipment
  • Perform or witness measurements of subsea equipment
  • Install and maintain the Riser
  • Assist drill crews in maintaining crown mounted compensator
  • Maintain and repair surface unit high pressure hydraulics
  • Assist with repair and maintenance of electronic controls for the unit
  • Maintain and install Christmas trees used in well completion
  • Troubleshoot/repair any equipment for the subsea stack and surface control units
  • Perform all aspects of maintenance, repair, and upkeep on subsea/support systems
  • Assist in mechanical auxiliary system repair as necessary
  • Preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment for wear and leaks
  • Overhaul equipment as necessary for proper operation
