Reporting to the Manager, CDC&O Engineering, the Drilling Engineer will work within the Eagle Ford Development Team, NAO Shale Division. This an exciting position working an area that is key to Talisman's shale strategy.

Position Overview and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, CDC&O Engineering, the Drilling Engineer will work within the Eagle Ford Development Team, NAO Shale Division. This an exciting position working an area that is key to Talisman's shale strategy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparation of cost estimates, planning and permitting, and designing a detailed drilling program
- Provisioning of day-to-day technical and analytical support during all phases of drilling operations
- Working in a fast-paced work environment with an emphasis on timely delivery, cost effectiveness, interactive work style and sound execution
- Developing well programs, monitoring torque and drag modeling and understanding and helping to oversee directional drilling programs.
- Understanding mud systems (particularly oil systems), developing cementing programs and carrying out casing design.
- Working with Drilling Superintendents on delivery of well programs.
- Execution and supervision of drilling projects as required including cost control, interaction with contract personnel, ensuring well site activities are performed safely, efficiently and within all environmental standards.
- Providing drilling assistance as required ensuring efficient flow of information and timely submission of all regulatory requirements.
- Post drill evaluation to ensure continued improvement in drilling efficiencies and costs.
- Understanding local approval processes, statutes and regulations to ensure applications are performed with full compliance and manage approvals for efficient project execution.

Qualifications:
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with 5+ years relevant industry drilling experience with some time spent in the field Completions experience would be an asset but not a requirement.
- Experience in casing and well design for horizontal resource shale gas wells is essential
- Background in directional drilling is essential
- Bottomhole assembly design and torque and drag modeling are key skills
- Experience with invert mud systems is beneficial
- Project Management skills are essential
- Skilled at working in a highly collaborative manner with Drilling Superintendents and Drilling Foremen
Candidate Profile:
- Good understanding of drilling rig equipment and downhole tools.
- A strong commitment to safe work practices and an ability to keep detailed safety records
- Able and willing to travel as required
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Work in a team atmosphere where the drilling engineer is an integral part of the group rather than an individual entity.
