One of our client's a Major International Operator is currently seeking a Senior / Principal Reservoir Engineer to join their St. John's, NL team.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The newly integrated Exploration (EXP) business area represents an exciting center of expertise and career development. By identifying, evaluating and accessing high potential new acreage in priority basins, our client prioritizes the drilling of more high impact wells in growth and frontier basins.
The East Coast of Canada forms part of our client's core exploration area defined by North America. The dynamic and active East Coast Exploration Team is seeking highly motivated individuals to assist in evaluating our growing portfolio in offshore Canada.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Tasks and responsibilities within the business cluster (EXP SBD):
The Strategy and business development cluster in EXP will ensure clear prioritization across the exploration portfolio in line with the corporate exploration strategy. The establishment of a dedicated unit for technical and economic evaluation within exploration will help us maintain a greater focus on the value creation of exploration, as well as heightening the focus on the value aspect of our exploration business.
Tasks within the business unit (EXP SBD EV):
Responsibility to ensure quality and consistency in technical and economic evaluations of exploration projects in North America (NA)
Ensure that corporate requirements, technical guidelines and best practices are implemented in all exploration project evaluations
Ensure alignment in application of exploration evaluation principles and practice across the project portfolio
Perform field evaluation of prospects and discoveries in the EXP NA portfolio and establish a sound decision basis
Support to other EXP NA units, performing portfolio analyses and actively participating in prioritization processes
Active involvement in relevant discipline networks, taking lead on exploration specific evaluation issues
Tasks for the position:
Prepare development concept solutions and cost estimates with schedules for exploration analysis, including contributions from drilling engineers
Liaise with relevant technical disciplines in identifying technology needs
Establish and use network relations within the group and North America business clusters
Take an active role in the cross discipline project teams for technical and economic evaluations of exploration prospects and assume project leader role if requested
Advise on methodology, assumptions and treatment of uncertainty in exploration analysis
Ensure quality through utilization of own professional network and compliance with relevant governing documents
Participate in cross business area project teams for technical and economic evaluations as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
8 10+ years experience in exploration, development and production activities is desirable
Degree in Engineering with a preference for Masters Degree
Hands-on experience with geophysical and geological workflows would be an asset
The preferred candidate must be willing to explore and contribute in other areas; and also be flexible in the outlook and will be expected to perform other roles and tasks within the department if called upon

Solid business understanding and commercial awareness
Good interpersonal skills - team work oriented across disciplines and organizational boundaries
Ability to be hands-on and perform high quality work within tight deadlines
