POSITION SUMMARY
Principal Accountabilities:
• Developing a permanent resident legal function in Jakarta to service all aspects of Hess business in Indonesia (corporate, production, exploration, and major projects)
• Managing respective people and organization
• Managing EHS function in the respective department
• Managing relevant administration and report


 

Main Activities:
1. Developing a permanent resident legal function in Jakarta to service all aspects of Hess business in Indonesia (corporate, production, exploration, and major projects)
• Providing proactive, timely, first quartile and commercial legal advice
• Providing cross function and multi-disciplinary legal support and advice. This will include, reviewing, drafting and negotiating oil & gas and other commercial and legal agreements as well as advising the corporate function to ensure ongoing compliance with Hess policy and all applicable laws.
• Ensuring the Regional Manager is fully and regularly appraised of issues, business support requirements in Indonesia and the service being provided.
• Liaising with relevant external Indonesian government and regulatory authorities and co-ventures.
• Managing the reputation and promoting the interests of Hess in Indonesia and the region.
• Promoting the legal function throughout Hess, within country, region and globally.
• Liaising with external lawyers as may be required from time to time.
• Working closely and as a team with other members of the Legal function based in South East Asia, the UK and US.
• Integrating the Jakarta legal function into the global legal group led by the EVP and
• General Counsel in New York, the General Counsel of World-Wide Exploration and
• Production in Houston and Associate General Counsel in London.
• Having role as legal representative of Tender Bid Committee


 
2. Managing respective people and organization
• Together with General Counsel and HR department, set an organizational structure, job description and ensure that all positions within the function is filled with the right talent.
• Human Resource targets achieved including staff recruitment, appraisals, coaching and mentoring where required
• Set objectives and provide delegation, authority and direction to subordinates.
• Ensures the implementation of teamwork and cooperation and flow of communication and information within and inter department.
• Actively participates in Company Networks to learn from others and share knowledge
• Supporting other Hess assets in region


 
3. Managing EHS function in the respective department
• Ensures that the work location is in a safe and environmentally friendly manner in line with Hess standard’s and targets


 
4. Managing relevant administration and report
• Managing relevant reporting and administration work based on the needs of the respective organization (including data recording, correspondence, etc. - based on the function of this position).
• Prepares and presents legal presentations to management, partners and government agencies
• Ensuring the confidentiality of the companys documentation


 
REQUIREMENTS:
a) Education and Experience:
• A minimum of Bachelor Degree in Law
• A qualified lawyer, preferably with international tertiary education
• A minimum of 8 years experience in the oil and gas sector (in house or private practice), preferably with international work experience
• Understanding commercial and legal issues facing foreign oil companies in Indonesia
• Strong commercial orientation with experience of applying legal expertise to add value on a wide range of business and technical issues
• Supply chain experience.
• Having PTK 007 Certification.


 
b) Basic skill:
• Computer: Very good in computer software (Excel & Word).
• Language: English both verbal (speaking) and written.
