JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to Mgr E/I/C Reliability Tailings - Extraction, the Instrumentation & Controls Reliability Engineer is responsible and accountable for supporting the day-day I&C asset reliability for tailing.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Provide technical support to our Maintenance and Operations functions with a focus of safe and  reliable production
  • Actively address and find resolution to I&C bad actors in the Fine Tailings Organization
  • Proactive approach to prevent future failures by driving towards root cause analysis and corrective actions pertaining to Instrumentation & Controls incidents
  • Be an proactive participant in building, developing and/or revising our I&C equipment strategies, check sheets and work practices based on current PM effectiveness while clearly closing potential gaps to improve asset reliability and set  recommended spare parts
  • Design/review instrumentation/control engineering packages to replace obsolete or improve asset reliability
  • Perform equipment walk-downs with project staff to ensure compliance with Suncor standards and business unit's requirements
  • Be a leader in safety by actively participating in safety meetings/training and field observations
  • Good communication skills and be able to work with leads across all extraction CFT's (cross functional teams)

Desired Skills & Experience

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized University
  • Registered as a P.Eng. in APEGA
  • Minimum of 8-10 years project/Reliability/Maintenance hands-on industrial plant experience - Oil and Gas Preferable
  • Experience working with instrument field devices (i.e. analyzers, transmitters, and control valves)
  • SAP experience is an asset
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, CSA, IEEE and IEC standards
  • Knowledge of Delta V DCS would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of hazardous area installations
