Job Description

Our Foster Creek Asset is currently looking for a Plant Operator for Steam. Reporting to the Shift Engineer, you would be responsible to effectively participate as a team member in the operation of our Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) facilities.
 
The Plant Operator for Steam will work a shift of 7 days on 7 days off, 12 hours per day rotating between days and nights.Transportation to site will be provided, and the successful candidate will reside in the Cold Lake/Bonnyville area. Relocation assistance is provided, and Camp may also be an option.
 
Our Foster Creek facility is located approximately 90 minutes north of Bonnyville/ Cold Lake, Alberta area. Your primary responsibility will be to effectively participate as a team member in the operation of our Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) facilities. Our Foster Creek Team is seeking energetic and qualified individuals to support our long term safety, environmental and production goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for hands-on day to day operation of the equipment in the following areas of 120,000bbl/d thermal oil recovery plant: steam and power generation
  • Understand and perform safety, environmental and regulatory responsibilities, such as hazard identification, equipment lockout, emergency response, and implementation of safe working procedures
  • Identify and scope out opportunities to maximize production, minimize operating costs, and eliminate downtime
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process problems
  • Ensure effective communication with operations and maintenance staff
  • Monitor and control plant conditions
  • Maintain proper documentation, including operator logs, maintenance records and safety and environmental reports
  • Perform housekeeping, performance monitoring and maintenance activities

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • 10+ years steam generation and processing experience
  • Full ABSA 3rd Class Steam Certificate (Power Engineer) required
  • This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Cenovus Drug and Alcohol policy which includes pre-assignment testing
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers License
Other skills:
  • Prior experience with thermal recovery operations and Honeywell DCS systems is an asset
  • Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently when necessary
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
