Our Foster Creek facility is located approximately 90 minutes north of Bonnyville/ Cold Lake, Alberta area. Your primary responsibility will be to effectively participate as a team member in the operation of our Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) facilities. Our Foster Creek Asset is currently looking for a Plant Operator for Steam. Reporting to the Shift Engineer, you would be responsible to effectively participate as a team member in the operation of our Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) facilities.The Plant Operator for Steam will work a shift of 7 days on 7 days off, 12 hours per day rotating between days and nights.Transportation to site will be provided, and the successful candidate will reside in the Cold Lake/Bonnyville area. Our Foster Creek Team is seeking energetic and qualified individuals to support our long term safety, environmental and production goals.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for hands-on day to day operation of the equipment in the following areas of 120,000bbl/d thermal oil recovery plant: steam and power generation
- Understand and perform safety, environmental and regulatory responsibilities, such as hazard identification, equipment lockout, emergency response, and implementation of safe working procedures
- Identify and scope out opportunities to maximize production, minimize operating costs, and eliminate downtime
- Troubleshoot and resolve process problems
- Ensure effective communication with operations and maintenance staff
- Monitor and control plant conditions
- Maintain proper documentation, including operator logs, maintenance records and safety and environmental reports
- Perform housekeeping, performance monitoring and maintenance activities
Desired Skills & Experience
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- 10+ years steam generation and processing experience
- Full ABSA 3rd Class Steam Certificate (Power Engineer) required
- This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Cenovus Drug and Alcohol policy which includes pre-assignment testing
- A valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Prior experience with thermal recovery operations and Honeywell DCS systems is an asset
- Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently when necessary
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
