Job Description

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Unit Operator at Grizzly Algar is required to work a 7 and 7 shift rotation while living in a camp setting when on shift.  Grizzly offers wage subsidies for shift work and has a wage scale depending on experience and steam certificate held.
 
Job Location:  Algar Lake 1 SAGD Project  
The Algar Lake 1 Project is located 40 km’s South West of Fort McMurray. This Grizzly Oil Sands Project will implement the use of Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) technology to extract 10,000 barrels/day of bitumen over the life of the Facility.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Should have a good working knowledge of Thermal SAGD operations
  • Troubleshoot operational problems and be involved with other team members to provide corrective actions
  • Proper start-up and shutdown of equipment for maintenance repairs
  • Mentor and train other operations staff as required

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 4thClass Power Engineering Certificate; 3rd or 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate preferred
  • Relevant plant operating experience is required. SAGD plant/field operating experience is preferred
  • Good working knowledge of drum boilers and evaporators would be a definite asset
  • Effective interpersonal skill and a strong ability to communicate with other team members
