Job Description

Reporting directly to the General Manager of Drilling and Completions this role is based out of the Calgary office and the responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • Fulfill the leadership accountabilities for the designated Drilling staff.  This includes goal setting, performance management, career development, and additional supervisory accountabilities for the team
  • Coordinate the overall planning and execution of Drilling projects in a multifunctional team environment including setting priorities, allocation of resources and post project reviews with recommendations to improve performance
  • Support the PetroBakken safety culture and management system
  • Apply emerging technologies where appropriate
  • Expediting projects from exploration to development and employing skills and techniques to improve capital efficiencies and improve economics
  • Ensure that there are adequate resources available to enable success for employees and the organization.  This will include workforce planning and training for employees
  • Represent the drilling team at required meetings and ensure appropriate reporting is provided to management
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the General Manager  

Desired Skills & Experience

  • An Engineering Degree with a minimum of 15 years drilling and completions related experience
  • Current membership with APEGGA
  • Strong business acumen, problem solving skills and decision making capabilities
  • Proven leader who has demonstrated ability to supervise a diverse team of consultants and employees in the Calgary office and the field
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to clearly communicate thoughts on complex issues
  • Experience in the latest horizontal drilling techniques
  • Proven track record of effectively managing services and resolving conflicts
