BP's Upstream segment focuses on finding reserves of oil and gas, developing the means to extract and process it and then consistently producing and transporting it to market. Candidates are expected to be Degree Qualified.
Essential experience and job requirements
It is expected that the candidate will have extensive experience supporting E & A or production related well evaluation and well testing activities focusing on the safe evaluation of oil and gas well production, gained through direct employment by an internationally recognized service company or international oil company. Applicants having gained complimentary experience within Petroleum Engineering or Reservoir Engineering roles and with a strong desire to develop operational skills supporting Well Testing Activities may also be considered.
• Candidates should have relevant experience covering well construction, well evaluation planning, data acquisition, data management, interpretation and well evaluation operations. Specific experience with design and operation of relevant surface testing process facilities, DST tools and Sub Sea safety systems would be beneficial.
• Candidates should be proactive and focused towards safety and environmental leadership.
Other essential skills and knowledge
Candidates should be able to display broad based engineering skills and an ability to focus on fundamental engineering principles to guide their work. They should have experience with varied gas and oil reservoir evaluation techniques and production systems and exposure to HPHT activities would be beneficial. Support delivered to these activities should display a proven record of high quality work.
• Candidates should exhibit a track record promoting technical excellence and show attention to detail across the spectrum of their work
• Candidates should have exhibited and be keen to develop coaching and mentoring skills to help train and guide junior engineers within both technical and team management skills areas.
• Candidates should be confident participating and supporting HAZID / HAZOP, Operations Peer Reviews, Certification and Engineering Reviews, etc.
• Candidates should show a track record supporting projects at site showing collaborative and supportive performance and the ability to work with service providers and client demands to deliver safe and effective operations.
• Candidates should be capable and accurate technical report writers and be computer literate with relevant office and technical software packages
• Candidates should be flexible and willing to travel around the world in support of planning or operational site based supervision as required.
Desirable criteria & qualifications
• Candidates should exhibit ability to accurately review operational failure incidents, analyse root cause effects and present findings to ensure a positive learning culture
• Additional technical experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial
o Well Test Pressure Transient analysis,
o Petrophysics / Log Analysis,
o Tubing Stress analysis,
o Production Operations

Job Description
BP Exploration is seeking to recruit a Degree qualified Engineer to work within BP Exploration Developments Division as a Well Testing Engineer. This role will be based in Sunbury Middlesex UK. The successful candidate will join the Well Testing Team in the Global Wells Engineering group and provide specialist technical support to Global BP Operations in Well Testing and related Well Evaluation activities.Essential Education
